Title: POWER OF LOVE 97
Artist: Qtex
Label: 23rd Precinct Recordings
Year: 1997 (duh!)
BPM: 137.7
Length: 1:54
Fadeout?: yes, unavoidable...

This song holds a lot of fond memories for me, as it probably does for
many other Scots of my generation. Qtex - along with QFX, TTF and
Ultrasonic - defined the sound of a generation with their awesome techno/
dance tracks which spanned the early to mid 90s. Most popular in their
native Scotland, the group was primarily made up of producer and writer
Scott Brown (who has since gone on to become his own powerhouse in the
Hardcore world - even putting in an appearance on IIDX with Go Berzerk!)
and vocalist Gillian Tennant. This 1997 remake of their signature track
Power Of Love has a powerful bass riff and striking synth backing which
brought the group to the attention of the wider public thanks to its
more mainstream dancebeats. An uplifting anthem that never fails to
get me dancing!

Step Info:-

BEGINNER - 2 footer / 103 Tap Steps / 3 Hold Steps
Fairly easy to follow Beginner steps. The only challenge comes from the
odd consecutive step and the freeze arrows (although these are used very
rarely and in a very simple way...)

LIGHT - 3 footer / 175 Tap Steps / 21 Hold Steps
These steps have a strong emphasis on building up a steady and regular
rhythmical pattern that the player can settle into. They don't intend to
throw the player off with offbeat tricks, but the final freeze-step
section could cause some issues for player not accustomed to these types
of steps. In general, a smooth and easy ride that sticks to the main
beats.

STANDARD - 6 footer / 332 Tap Steps / 14 Hold Steps
A very well-rounded stepfile that uses plenty of the four main ingredients
necessary for a successful Standard chart - 1) stream, 2) 8th patterns,
3) jumps and 4) freezes. The step-jump combos throughout the first vocal
section give the chart a strong sense of direction and the piano section
towards the end is cranked up a level in terms of difficulty with the
introduction of 8th note bridging sections. And of course, I had to
introduce some of my trademark crossovers as well!

HEAVY - 8 footer / 402 Tap Steps / 23 Hold Steps
Everything that the Standard steps had are included here PLUS loads of
16th highlights during the verses to mirror the beat breakdowns etc. as
well as a pretty tricky little 16th section during the 2nd vocal interlude
that could catch you off guard. Apart from that, expect lots of
crossovers, rhythms that follow both the backing and the vocals (so more
offbeat rhythms) and a pretty hairy freeze-step section towards the end
that might just test your survival skills!
